Abstract
The fecal microbial flora composition was studied in patients affected by irritable bowel syndrome. The statistical analysis of the results showed a decrease of coliforms, lactobacilli and, to a lesser extent, bifidobacteria, as compared to control healthy individuals. Hypotheses on the cause of these modifications and their role in the maintenance and severity of the disease are discussed. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
