Abstract
Rotational analyses have been carried out for 11 bands of the 1Au–1Ag (π*–n) transition of glyoxal-d2 in absorption. Approximately 13 000 lines have been assigned, and rotational and vibrational constants determined by computer methods. The following vibrational frequencies have been determined: ν2′ = 1394.42 cm−1, ν4′ = 866.52 cm−1, ν5′ = 499.04 cm−1, ν7′ = 217.36 cm−1, ν5″ = 537.29 cm−1, and ν7″ = 117.98 cm−1. The bands are relatively free from perturbations with the exception of a Coriolis interaction involving the torsional vibration ν7(au) and the C—C=O bending vibration ν12(bu).Keywords
