Application of Jastrow wave functions to quantum lattice spin theories

Abstract
The use of variational wave functions that are products of overlapping locally correlated functions for studying the ground state of lattice spin theories is described. It is found that very accurate results can be obtained for very simple trial functions. For determining the energy, the method is superior to methods based on blocks.Keywords
