Un type complémentaire de profil écologique : le profil écologique 'indicé'

Abstract
The indexed ecological profile is based on the calculation of the probability that a species will be sensitive to each of the states of an ecological variable. This profile illustrates the relationship between each species and each variable in the environment. Associated with methods of multivariate analysis, it may be used to define indicator groups. An example of its application to phytoecological data collected along the hydrolittoral of the Saint Lawrence (upstream from Quebec [Canada]) was presented. In this example, the variable is the cover by debris lest in the intertidal zone. The states are the varying degrees of cover. Frequencies for 50 plant species in the different stages of this variable (i.e. in relation to the amount of cover by debris), were presented.
