Abstract
Increasingly, the population from birth to 3 years is benefiting from advanced technology. At 3 months, infants have interacted with computers; at 18 months, they have used powered mobility and myoelectric hands; and at 2 years, children have talked via speech synthesizers. This article describes research and clinical experience in this field and raises issues and suggests future applications of advanced technology for this population.
