Disappearance and Recovery of Human Monocyte IgG Receptor Activity After Phagocytosis

Abstract
Summary: Human monocytes were incubated with latex or formalin pre-treated SRBC and tested for IgG receptor activity. After 10 min, receptor activity could not be detected in 90% of phagocytizing cells; after 6 hr, 78 to 84% of the monocytes recovered IgG receptors. The kinetic data and the morphologic observation of selective sites of membrane binding suggest internalization followed by recovery of monocyte plasma membrane IgG receptor sites.
