Abstract
Expts. with the heart-lung-kidney preparation of the dog under amytal showed that when the arterial blood ammonia is elevated above 0.4 mg. % by addition of ammonium salts the kidney removes ammonia from the blood and excretes it in the urine. This is evidenced by a lower content of ammonia in the renal venous than in the arterial blood. This is in contrast to the situation at normal blood ammonia levels when the kidney forms the ammonia appearing in the urine. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
