Abstract
The Clear Lake gnat, Chaoborus astictopus D. and S., is a nonbiting gnat of the family Culicidae. The species is known as the Clear Lake gnat because these insects breed in large numbers in the environs of Clear Lake, Calif. Studies from 1939 to 1941 on the life history and morphology of the immature stages of this gnat are reported herein.Keywords
