Photochemical Cleavage of DNA With Phosphorus(V)porphyrin Derivatives

Abstract
Photocleavage of double-stranded circular DNA was examined using a phosphorus(V)porphyrin derivative. The P(V)porphyrin derivative cleaved the DNA upon visible light irradiation both in air and in argon. Photoreactions through an indirect process with singlet oxygen and a direct electron transfer process were suggested.
