Abstract
"Acute" or "chronic" lesions in the median eminence can block the adrenal ascorbic acid depletion normally occurring one or four hours following unilateral adrenalectomy. Such lesions can induce adrenal atrophy in the presence of normal sized testes. Adrenal ascorbic acid depletion in rats with adrenal atrophy is variable, and some of them do not have diabetes insipidus. Pituitary ACTH content is within normal limits in rats with "acute" lesions but falls to 50% of normal in animals with "chronic" lesions. This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
