Action of 1-Leucine on Plasma Insulin Effect and Glucose Uptake of the Diaphragm and Adipose Tissue

Abstract
The action of 1-leucine (intravenously 11 mg/100 g weight) on the plasma insulin effect and glucose-uptake by the diaphragm and epididymal fat of the same animal was studied in rats. The effect of 1-leucine added to the incubation buffer on glucose-uptake by both tissues was also determined. There is an increase in insulin activity of the plasma and in glucose-uptake by the diaphragm and adipose tissue from injected animals. 1-Leucine added to the incubation buffer increases glucose-uptake by the diaphragm and adipose tissue.
