Abstract
The authors obtain an average decrease of 14.5% in blood lipid P of the fasting dog after injection of pituitrin, as compared with a 53% decrease previously reported by Blix and Ohlin. Pitressin and pitocin do not exert any consistent effect, but both fractions seem to have some influence. Pituitrin shows a markedly weakened effect, if any, on sym-pathectomized dogs. Irregular results even in control exps. make the measurement of the decrease in blood lipid P values unsuitable for use as a functional test. An unsuccessful attempt was made to test pituitrin in cases of exogenous hyperlecithinemia produced by the oral and intravenous administration of egg yolk.
