Abstract
Jackson and Rhoades-Brown (ibid., vol.4, no.9, p.1441 (1978)) (JR) have criticised the treatment of alpha decay made by Fliessbach and Mang (1976) (FM). This criticism is based on a misinterpretation of both the bound-state functions introduced by FM and the reduced alpha amplitude as used by many authors. A simple analytic example is presented in which all the quantities occurring are given explicitly. Keywords
