Abstract
In this article, the authors propose several future challenges for the early childhood special education (ECSE) field. In the next decade, ECSE public policy developments will be related both to implementing current policy (e.g., P.L. 99–457), and to expanding policy in order to assure that quality services are available to all children and families who need early intervention and preschool services. In addition to discussing future policy issues, the article also describes possible roles and responsibilities of professionals and other advocates in shaping future policy. Keywords
