Abstract
Since 1866, when Graham published the results of his investigation of the passage of gases through metallic septa, the problem of the relationships existing between hydrogen and palladium has been investigated by many workers. The methods by which the problem has been attacked may be summarised as follows :- (a) Measurements of the pressure-concentration equilibria at different temperatures; (b) Measurements of the rates of absorption of hydrogen by palladium and of the rates of passage of hydrogen through palladium; (c) Measurements of the thermal effects arising between hydrogen and palladium under different conditions ; (d) Examination of the magnetic behaviour of palladium as influenced by the presence of occluded hydrogen; (e) Examination of the X-ray spectra of palladium as influenced by the presence of occluded hydrogen. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
