Abstract
The yield of seeds and mast were determined in a 2d growth mixed oak_hickory forest in south central Missouri during 1938 and 1939. The 1938 yield was 90% greater than that of 1939. Not only was the yield low in 1939 but there was a marked reduction in the percentage of sound seeds. The abundance or scarcity of the acorn crop has a profound influence upon the movements of wild turkey flocks during the fall and winter.
