Masses and Decay Constants of Charmed Mesons

Abstract
The relation between masses and decay constants of D- and F-mesons is discussed within the framework of broken chiral SU(4)×SU(4) symmetry in the quartet model. Given the mass of D-mesons, the F+-meson mass depends sensitively on the ratio of their leptonic decay constants fD and fF. A plausible argument is given to infer a near equality of fD, fF and fπ, in contrast with the large fK/fπ ratio ∼1.28). In addition, some comments are made on the bare mass counting mass formula for the vector mesons including F+*-mesons.
