Abstract
Superstring models with an intermediate mass scale possess a novel mechanism for generating the baryon asymmetry in the Universe. It involves the out-of-equilibrium decay of heavy particles at temperatures close to the electroweak scale. The gravitino problem encountered in many supergravity models is automatically resolved. Keywords
