Abstract
The effects of chlordiazepoxide and chlorpromazine upon the myocardium and the associated vascular system appeared to be of a transitory anti-adrenergic nature. The drug concentrations required to achieve these effects were in excess of the expected blood levels in therapeutic usage. Tranquilizer-induced alteration of the physiological function of the central nervous and/or the peripheral autonomic systems may well account for changes in many of the myocardial responses to stress situations. Keywords
