Abstract
α‐ω glycols containing two through ten carbon atoms were reacted with paraformaldehyde. Stable polymers were prepared for the glycols having five or more carbon atoms. The polymers have low molecular weights and are bifunctional with respect to hydroxyl. The polyformals were reacted with tolylene diisocyanate and converted into crosslinked urethane elastomers. Physical properties of the elastomers indicated no significant differences among those prepared from polyformals containing a varying number of methylene groups in the starting glycol. Keywords
