Abstract
Several monomers were submitted to pulsed TEA-CO2 laser radiation. In the condensed phase neither polymerization nor decomposition was observed. In the vapour phase, polymerization did not take place but extensive decomposition occurred, mainly through molecular elimination reactions. Possible reasons for the lack of polymerization are discussed. Keywords
