Abstract
To the Editor: Acromegaly has been reported to be associated with cancer and premalignant adenomatous polyps of the colon (1, 2). We have seen three patients in whom acromegaly and multiple myeloma coexisted. A woman born in 1918 had clinically overt acromegaly diagnosed in 1969 with high levels of serum growth hormone (GH) (46µg/L; normal, < 10), but a sellar roentgenogram was normal. She declined treatment until 1975 when pituitary irradiation therapy was given (45 Gy) with decreasing serum GH levels. In 1978, an IgG kappa myeloma stage I A was diagnosed that progressed to stage III A in 1980.Keywords
