Abstract
Larvae of the Hessian fly, Mayetiola destructor (Say), are shown to have three instars. The first instar feeds for approximately 6 d, during which much of the larval growth occurs. Considerable anatomical differences exist among instars. These differences are described and illustrated by drawings and SEM photographs. Keywords
