Abstract

Ferroelectricity in the smectic-C phase of two series of compounds (L-DOBACPC series and D-DOBAMBC series) are studied and discussed in terms of their molecular structures. Bistable memory effect in the smectic-C phase and an electro-optical effect in the smectic-H phase are studied.
