Abstract
Two rare human infections produced by Pasteurella multocida, a member of the genus Pasteurella, are presented. One of the patients had a fatal outcome following the rupture of a mycotic aneurysm. In the second case, the infection was superimposed on stasis ulcers of the legs in a diabetic patient and was complicated by cellulitis and osteomyelitis. The healing process was slow, but healing was achieved following surgery and intense systemic and local oxacillin and penicillin therapy. Neither case was related to animal bites or scratches. Keywords
