Abstract
Elasticity equations have been devised for an orthotropic rubber-cord system based on nonlinearly elastic rubber and linearly elastic cord. The problem involves the mechanics of nonlinear, elastic, composite materials under large deformations. The Poisson ratios and Young's moduli characteristic of such a composite system under uniaxial stress can be derived. For this computation it is necessary to establish the moduli of elasticity of the cord imbedded in the rubber and the critical cord angle.Keywords
