Abstract
Summary: Twenty‐one carotid endarterectomies were performed on 18 patients anaesthetised using droperidol, fentanyl and a cervical plexus block. This technique permitted testing for motor function during carotid clamping, and allowed the operation to proceed safely without a shunt in the majority of patients. Keywords
