Abstract
Proteomic investigation of normal and diseased brain states has the potential to reveal novel molecular therapeutic and diagnostic targets for a multitude of pathological central nervous system conditions. Due to their unique properties, integral membrane proteins are likely to play a central role in the aetiology of these disorders. These properties, however, have prevented comprehensive analysis of this important class of proteins. Recent advances in sample preparation and proteomic quantification platforms, specifically focused on recovery and enrichment of integral membrane proteins, are discussed. Keywords
