Abstract
The weevil continues to show an ability to adapt itself to new areas. A control method based on the elimination of adults before oviposition starts in the spring appears to offer the best possibilities for success. Wide-spread variations were noted in population levels between adjoining fields as well as between fields in different areas. No adult migrations were observed during the spring. Dieldrin, chlordane, aldrin, and benzene hexachloride were applied as sprays in varying concns. by ground equipment and by aircraft when the first spring growth of alfalfa was just appearing. Dieldrin at a concn. as low as 0.25 lbs./acre was effective for control, both by aircraft and ground application methods. Chlordane at 2 lb./acre was also effective when applied by aircraft. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
