Abstract
Energies of kinks and constrictions of screw and 71° Dislocations in B.C.C. Metals Starting out with the structures of straight dislocations, a model for the atomistic calculation of kinks and constrictions is developed. In particular, the influence of the dislocation core is taken into account. Activation energies for the formation of pairs of kinks and of constrictions are calculated. The various modes of thermally activated dislocation motion are discussed. Keywords
