Abstract
Three groups of 14 rabbits 5-10 wk of age received a wheat-soybean diet containing 55.8% wheat either popped or steam flaked or untreated. The rabbits of each group were divided into 2 collective cages with ad lib supply of H2O. Flaking of the maize led to a 10% improvement of the growth rate as compared to controls, mainly due to an increase in the feed intake level. Popping of the wheat seemed less efficient.
