Abstract
We study crack propagation in locally quenched crystals by two- and three-dimensional numerical simulations of a deterministic spring model. Controlling applied stress and material specific parameters, we find that a cellular structure bounded by cracks forms and the size of cells is selected through relaxation processes. We also find that numerical results are well represented with a scaling relation including two different regions of crack growth. Keywords
