Abstract
The metallic renormalization of the Auger spectrum and in particular the Auger vacancy satellite spectrum is considered for Cu and Zn in terms of calculated one-, two-, and three-core-hole metallic shifts. Good agreement with experiment is obtained. Atomic calculations strongly support the interpretation given by Aksela and Sivonen for the recently observed satellite in Cu vapor, and furthermore it is shown that the same type of satellite has previously been observed, but not identified, in the spectrum from atomic Zn.
