Calcitic cement secreted by agglutinated foraminifers grown in laboratory culture

Abstract
Scanning and transmission electron microscopic studies of some agglutinated foraminifers maintained on artificial, carbonate-free substrates, reveal an actively secreted calcitic cement in newly formed chambers. The cement ultrastructure somewhat resembles that of miliolid foraminifers, but exhibits in detail quite different morphology.
