Abstract
The realistic competency and activity scales of the Self-Directed Search were revised to learn if women's scores on these scales could be increased without reducing their concurrent and construct validity for men and women. The standard and revised scales were randomly assigned to be taken by 150 female and 49 male interns in a federal agency. The results indicate that the revisions increase women's realistic scores, but fail to affect their high point codes. In addition, only two revised items measure the intended constructs. Keywords
