Abstract
The authors propose approaches to the problem of adaptive blind equalizer initialization and channel impulse response estimation for data communication systems, including telephone channels as well as digital radio channels. They propose two schemes for channel impulse response estimation that can be used for reliable initialization of the conventional decision-directed equalizers. Only batch (non-recursive) methods are considered. The proposed methods yield (globally) optimal solutions. Keywords
