Rapid Production of Atherosclerosis by Administration of Uranium in Presence of Hypercholesterolemia

Abstract
In 12 of 14 rabbits with dietary hypercholesterolemia of 2 wks.'' duration the production of renal damage by 10 mg./kg. uranium acetate resulted in the abrupt development of aortic atherosclerosis. Ten normally fed rabbits, 10 normally fed animals receiving uranium, and 10 cholesterol fed rabbits failed to develop significant atherosclerosis in this period.
