Abstract
A time lag in the thermal coefficient of resistivity of a germanium whisker is reported, and a probable explanation in terms of the diffusion of point defects (probably vacancies) is given. The necessary diffusion constant ranges from 3×10−4 cm2/sec to 12×10−4 cm2/sec in the temperature range 400° to 620°C with a probable error of ±20%. These values are above the highest reported in previous quenching experiments, among which there is large disagreement. This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
