Abstract
In vitro tests of cellular immune responses, using lymphocyte transformation tests and rosette tests for T [thymus derived] and B [bone marrow derived] lymphocytes, were studied in a cross-section analysis of a total of 55 patients in 6 groups (non-pregnant, 2-3 mo. pregnant, 4-5 mo. pregnant, 6-7 mo. pregnant, at parturition and 3 mo. after parturition). No pregnancy-related changes were found in the numbers of T, B or null cells, nor changes in PHA [phytohemagglutinin], PWM [pokeweed mitogen] or MLC [mixed lymphocyte cultures] responses, but a significant reversible depression of the PPD [purified protein derivative] response was found in the second half of pregnancy. This publication has 16 references indexed in Scilit:
