Abstract
Two male patients suffered from infection, one with evidence of septicemia and one with cervical abscess. The administration of ristocetin, a new antibiotic, was beneficial in both cases, but was followed by a fall in the total leukocyte count to 2,650 per cubic millimeter in one case and 1,040 in the other. The figures returned to normal after treatment with antibiotic was discontinued. The clinical and laboratory observations in the two cases are given in detail, and it is suggested that patients receiving ristocetin should be protected against the hazard of leukopenia by having leukocyte counts done every other day rather than only twice weekly. Keywords
