Diverticulitis Coli

Abstract
THIS paper reviews the experience at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in the surgical treatment of diverticulitis coli during the past decade. The reasons for making this study are several. First of all, there has been a laudable trend toward a more aggressive surgical approach in the treatment of this disease. However, the criteria for the one-stage operation for diverticulitis coli need sharper definition. Secondly, the multiple-stage operation still has a definite place in the treatment of colonic diverticulitis.
