Abstract
The effect of a selective β2-stimulant (Salbutamol) on ciliary rate was tested in an isolated intact pulmonary airway preparation. The increments in ciliary rate tosuccessive log doses of the drug (10-8-1042-4 m) took thesform of a dose-response curve. It has been suggested that sympathomímetics exert their effect through the adenyl cyclase-cyclic AMP system, which is dependent on the stimula-tion of β-receptor sites. The increment of ciliary rate in response to increasing doses of salbutamol is, therefore, most likely a function ofβ-receptor stimulationKeywords
