Abstract
Magnetic measurements obtained by the Gouy method are reported over a temperature range (77°—300°K) for hexahydrated trivalent ions of titanium and vanadium, and estimates of trigonal field parameters are presented. Measurements on C(NH2)3V(SO4)2·6H2O to 1.96°K on a pendulum magnetometer confirm the ground state in this compound as 3A (3T1g). The correlation of these studies with earlier spectral results is discussed. It is also shown that V(urea)6Br3 exhibits magnetic behavior similar to that of the hydrates, and that C(NH2)3Cr(SO4)2·6H2O is magnetically normal. Keywords
