Abstract
Commercial-scale vacuum fumigation with ethyl formate (EF) controlled over 98% of the green peach aphids Myzus persicae (Sulzer) on film-wrapped, packed head lettuce. Fumigation for 1 h at 60 mm Hg with an initial dosage of 0.5% EF was as effective as 0.9% EF. The higher dosage caused some injury to the lettuce, but the lower one did not. Neither taste nor odor of the lettuce was affected by fumigation at either level. Residues of EF could not be detected and only trace amounts of ethanol were found in the fumigated lettuce. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
