Abstract
A single intraperitoneal injection of exudate from Murphy rat lymphosarcoma produced polyarthritis and elevated polysaccharide/protein ratios of the serum within 5 days. Cortisol given daily at 1 and 5 mg/rat inhibited the incidence and severity of the arthritic lesions and partially reversed the shift in polysaccaride/protein ratio. Phenylbutazone at 20 mg/day had no consistent effect on the polyarthritis or the serum ratios. Keywords
