Abstract
Based on routine tissue culture and air-drying techniques, the somatic chromosomes were studied in the heterogametic sex (female) of three species of birds: Phasianus colchicus karpowi, Anas platyrhyncha domestica and Gallus gallus domesticus. The diploid chromosome numbers were at least 82, 80 and 78 respectively, including the ZW sex-mechanism. The morphology of the individual chromosomes was described in each species. Keywords
