Abstract
A CORRELATION between patients' metabolic states and the characteristics of their tendon reflexes has long been noted. This was quantified by Chaney1 and later by Lambert et al.,2 who used a strain-gauge transducer and electro-optical system to measure the length of the Achilles-tendon reflex and whose measurements were made from the beginning of the stimulus artifact (produced by the movement of the foot caused by the tap of the reflex hammer) to halfway down on the relaxation segment of the curve. This appears to be a well chosen point, for it includes a good part of the period of relaxation, . . .Keywords
