Abstract
All larval instars of Philocasca demita Ross were collected in pitfall traps or in leaf-litter samples processed through Berlese funnels. This is the first caddisfly in North America known to be entirely terrestrial. Adults emerge in September or October. Larval occurs over the winter and the mature larvae aestivate from June to September in unsealed cases. Larvae and pupae are similar to typical aquatic caddisflies, and have few morphological adaptations for the terrestrial environment.
