Abstract
Various dopants were added to 33BaF2-4GdF3-63ZrF4 (mol%) glass to control the refractive index and some properties of the resultant glasses were investigated. It has become apparent that LiF, PbF2, AlF3 and BiF3 are useful dopants for controlling the refractive index of BaF2-GdF3-ZrF4 glasses. Waveguide structure has been formed by casting a cladding glass melt around the core glass rod. Keywords
