Abstract
In 47 patients with acoustic neurofibroma, 57 operations were performed with 18 deaths. The mortality in total enucleation was 24% for 1-stage operations and 63% for multiple-stage operations. The total mortality for total enucleation was 33%. In 14 patients with partial removal the mortality was 20%; but further operation was necessary in 5 patients, 3 of whom died. The total mortality for partial removal was 50%, one having died subsequently of the tumor.
